Cougars turn to fresh faces to spark the new season.

This season the Cougars will have many new faces on both sides of the ball getting playing time.  Most of the Cougars that have been starters since football returned to Waterloo have now graduated. Our younger guys must now step up and fill their shoes as we begin our second year in region play. This years region will be slightly different from last year. Gone is Mt. Hope, Speake and Hazlewood. Mt. Hope combined with Hatton, Speake joined Lawrence County, and Hazlewood has combined with R.A. Hubbard.  This left three holes to fill in our Varsity schedule for this season which will be replaced by a second game with both Shoals Christian and Vina.  Region alignments are set to be redrawn after this season and this should straighten out this problem for next year, bringing new teams into our region. However, we must focus our attention on this season and try our best to reach the playoffs.

We would also like to announce that Coach Brad Palmer will not be part of the Cougar Coaching Staff this season. Coach Palmer has been hired at Rogers High School.  Coach Palmer has been a vital part of our coaching staff since we restarted the program. He will truly be missed but we wish him all the best as he begins his teaching career at Rogers High School.  Best of luck Coach Palmer and thanks again for all you have done at Waterloo.

We would also like to announce that Coach Taylor Leathers has left Waterloo and joined the staff at Wilson High School. We appreciate all that Coach Leathers contributed to our football program and wish him the very best at his new job.

We would also like to announce that a new coach has joined our staff. Mr. Josh Cooper has arrived from Wilson High School and joined the coaching staff here at Waterloo. We look forward to working with Coach Cooper and think that he is an excellent addition to our coaching staff. Coach Cooper will fulfill the teaching duties left by the departure of Coach Leathers.  Welcome to the Cougar family Coach Cooper!
